Tab instructions

<P>

We have had few reports from customers having questions or concerns while putting on their Bentley Tabs this year. We decided to put together an FYI instructional page to help out.

There are a couple of issues being reported:
TAB MARGIN TOO SMALL
An issue has been brought to our attention with the margins of some books. There apparently was an unexpected error during the bindery process and some margins were trimmed much closer than they should have been, not allowing for very much room for the Tabs on some pages.

SOLUTION: Knowing that this issue exists right up front helps a lot as you put your Tabs on. You can still apply your Tabs and keep them very straight, but you’ll have to change how you use the guides throughout the book. Instead of lining the thick black line up with the edge of the page, simply place your Tab about 1/4 inch - 3/8 inch less shallow onto the page (see pictures). Some customers have even reported to us that they’ve actually trimmed the bottom part of the Tab by that much so that they could apply as normal. Either way works great and will result in straight Tabs.

BACK-TO-BACK COLLECTIONS
With the changes in this year’s layout, the Collections no longer have introduction pages and actually run back-to-back throughout the book. This has caused a little confusion with the Tabs as not all of them will be applied on the same side that the collection begins.
SOLUTION: Just be aware that this is the case this year and be careful as you work through the Guide. For example, the JW Collection will have a Tab on the right, it's first page. But because it is only one page, this requires the Tab for the next collection, JW Originals, to be applied to the right-hand side because it, too, is only one page collection. This means that the Tab for the next collection, May Series is actually applied onto it’s 2nd page as well, instead of it’s first page. This requires the next 3 collections to follow this same awkward suit. However, the rhythm comes back into balance after the Pottery Collection and all is well. Rest assured, once the Tabs are applied, they are still VERY HELPFUL and make the book MUCH EASIER to use.
